The GSBS Medical Trust was started as medical service wing of the social and cultural organization, the Gowd Saraswat Brahman Sabha of Matunga, Mumbai in 1967 offering free immunization service to the public.Medical services at extremely low rates and “Under-5 Clinic” to offer medical cover to children under 5 years of age for a small one-time payment followed. With widening of activities, the venue of service was shifted to Dwarkanath Mutt run by Shrimat Dwarkanath Tirth Swamiji of Gokarn Parthagali Jevottam. After some years of operation here, thefounding group of highly motivated individuals decided to form a Public Trust under the aegis of the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai in 1973.
With the increasing requirements, the Trust needed a larger area to operate independently and thus Medical Centre-I was established at Shilpa Apartment, Dasturwadi, Dadar (East). A Pathology lab was also established to assist the consultants in their diagnoses.
After the success of the Medical Centre-I which provides services of Medical Specialists, Dental Surgeons and basic tests like Pathology, Xray,ECG, Physiotherapy etc., the Trust embarked to establish a Superspeciality Centre with Medical and Dental Superspecialists backed by speciality investigative tests like 2D-Echocardiography, Cardiac Stress test, Endoscopy, Dental OPG etc.
The Superspeciality Centre was inaugurated by Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Power, Government of India on 6th January 2002, and hascreated a niche of its own in the area of speciality consultations and investigations.
This unit reflects the commitment of the Trust management to bring fast moving technologies in the investigative field within the reach of the common man. Apart from this, the Superspeciality Center has also been able to maintain a pride of place in the field of corporate health check-up & pre-insurance medical check-ups.
The Superspeciality Centre came to be known as “Healthrakshak” in 2015.
